On Saturday, June 29th from 9-11am, the McLeod County Fairgrounds will come alive with energetic dance music and laughter. The Relay for Life team “From Penny’s to Dollars” is organizing a Zumbathon to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. For two straight hours, participants will be led by a certified Zumba instructor through a series of fun dance routines under the outdoor Pavilion.
“For our Relay for Life team, this is our first Zumbathon,” says organizer Beth Todd. “We have been raising funds for the American Cancer Society for nine years now, and our team does many fundraisers. Each year we strive to try new and exciting ways to raise money.”
While the Zumbathon is certainly a creative way to raise money, many people are excited for the event. With gift bags for the first 50 ticket holders, water donated by Tri-County Water, and an extended forecast that is exemplary, the Zumbathon has one additional benefit; participants can expect to burn between 800-1,000 calories per hour! Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of the event. You can get more information and find friends who are planning to attend the Zumbathon, by visiting the Zumbathon Event on Facebook.
