Ag Person of the Year- Nathan Winter

Congratulations to all this year’s recipients!!

Citizens Bank also received the “Business Gives” letter of appreciation. Hutchinson Business Gives provides a way to recognize Hutchinson Businesses who have donated 2% or more of their pre-tax earnings to non-profit organizations.

After the awards, the games began where they played everything from eating a donut off of a ribbon first, without letting it drop to tossing a tortilla on a plate that was tied on your head. There were a lot of great prizes! Below are some pictures from the event. Thank you to the Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism for hosting a great event!!

The Paint Factory

Are you looking for something fun and different to do in Hutchinson? The Paint Factory might just be the place for you! A couple of us from CB&T were invited to the VIP night on December 19th. Some of us were excited and some were a little nervous due to our lack of creativity.  But with Tara’s great instruction on each step, all of the paintings turned out pretty good and we all had a great time. After each step, she turns the music up and your creativity begins.

Check out the calendar on the website at http://thepaintfactorymn.com/ and grab some friends or plan a date night.

Farm Fatigue Bags to Be Delivered in McLeod County

Farm Fatigue Bags McLeod CountyAgriculture is a vital part of the Hutchinson community, and each year we give thanks to all the farmers who work long hours to produce staple crops. It won’t be long before harvest season arrives and area farmers put in countless hours in the field. The growing season, weather, and a number of other factors influence the short window of opportunity farmers have to get crops safely harvested, transported, and stored before winter arrives.

Long hours in the fields mean farmers don’t always get the breaks they need, so the AgriBusiness Committee at the Hutchinson Chamber started a Farm Fatigue Bag program a few years ago. Citizens Bank and Trust is a proud sponsor of this program that assembles five gallon buckets full of bottled water, sandwiches and snacks, sunscreen and other helpful items aimed at helping farmers stay healthy and safe. Volunteers take turns driving out to the fields around Hutchinson and Glencoe, delivering 300 of these Farm Fatique packages directly to farmers. In many cases, volunteers walk the bucket out into the field to the farmer. This is a very well received program, with many sponsors and volunteers who work hard each fall to help our area farmers. If this is something you think you’d can help, contact the Hutchinson Chamber.

The 38th Annual Hutchinson Arts and Crafts Festival

citizens bank, arts and crafts in hutchinson mnThe Annual Hutchinson Arts and Crafts Festival is one of Hutchinson’s most anticipated annual events. This is the 38th year of the festival, and this year will feature over 170 artisan booths. You can look forward to roomier booths and more display space, as each booth will be 12×12 feet, an increase from 10×10 foot booths of the past.

This year’s featured artist is Ellen Starr, an artist who now calls Hutchinson her home. She is a diverse artist working in many different mediums. As Ellen states on her Etsy site, her “passion is to create works of art that inspire others with a sense of awe and reverence.” Ellen is a cancer survivor and uses her art as a therapeutic tool. Her presence at the Arts and Craft Festival this year will be a wonderful addition.

You can count on a delicious array of food at the Taste of Hutchinson, including many crowd favorites! New this year will be corn on the cob! The entire festival is free to attend and begins on Friday, September, 13th at 10am until 6pm, and again on Saturday, September 14th from 9am until 4pm.

What’s New This Year?

New this year, the Hutchinson Center for the Arts will be open during the same time as the Arts and Crafts Festival. It is free!

Also, the South Fork Film Festival will be showing the Alfred Hitchcock classic, “The Birds” at the Masonic West River Park. The film will start at the conclusion of the High School football game, and will also be free.

The Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce is excited about these additions to the weekend, and hopes you’ll invite friends to enjoy the festivities with you. The weekend is expected to bring up to 12,000 visitors to Hutchinson. Please join us in welcoming everyone to Hutchinson!
