Leadership Institute

Citizens Bank is proud to sponsor scholarships annually for the Hutchinson Leadership Institute and we have yet another Graduation class!  Participants, Sponsors, Alumni, and Guests are invited to join the Graduation & Banquet on Wednesday, May 15th to celebrate the graduation and community service projects of the 2013 class.  The event will be held at the Hutchinson Event Center beginning at 5:30 pm for $20 per person.  Contact the Chamber office at 587-5252 if you wish to attend!

We have a celebrity in the bank!

Maddie Girard, 9th grader at HHS, spent some time with us this morning learning the ins and outs of banking.  She is currently enrolled in the Intro to Careers class with Mrs. Padrnos.  She was interested in learning about banking and finance and had an interest in Citizens Bank as her dad, Mark Girard, serves as one of our Directors.  Maddie is actively involved in Student Council, a member of the Varsity golf team, and Business Professionals of America.

Check out this autographed photo of Maddie in today’s Hutch Leader.

“Service Above Self”

Rotary 2013 051Hutchinson Rotary celebrated the 10th Annual Taste of Rotary, its largest annual fundraiser, on April 19th at Crow River Golf Club. This year Hutchinson Rotary presented its first “Service Above Self” award to a community member who lives by that Rotary motto. Retired MN Army National Guard Colonel Tim Sanken was chosen from a number of possible candidates and is recognized for his selfless commitment to those less fortunate through many avenues of service. Tim chose For Hearts & Souls as his charity of choice for the $500 contribution in his name. Tim provides non-medical support while For Hearts & Souls screens children in third-world countries lacking medical technology for heart disease. Congratulations Tim!

Citizens Bank is proud to have employees and family members serve as members of Rotary.

The Best and Worst of Facebook for Business

Jessi Wendland, Nancy Witte and Mandy Baldry attended April’s Social Media Breakfast. Beth Gasser, from Vivid Image, was the presenter and spoke about the best and worst of Facebook for business. She started out with her top ten Facebook marketing mistakes. Some mistakes included not using Facebook personally, using a personal profile as a business page and not having a Facebook icon or link on your website for your customers to find your page. The last half of the presentation focused on Facebook features that every fan page administrator should know. She showed us how you can click on the “reply” button directly following a comment, co-host events and how to let Facebook recommend your page.

This month’s presentation was very informative for CB&T’s Facebook administrators. Have you “liked” CB&T’s Facebook page? Go to our home page and click on the “Connect With Us on Facebook” and it will bring you to our FB page.

Happy Easter!

It’s a STRIKE!!

An excited, energetic group of CB employees’ children filled the bowling alley last weekend for our annual Easter Party!  One of the many Burich family traditions is to host several events for the children throughout the year.  By the smiles on their faces, you can tell that the kids had a blast!100_1315 Thank you for the celebration, Buzz!

Twitter Twatter

IMG_20130328_084323Early yesterday morning, the Social Media Breakfast was chirping with conversations about Twitter, Social Media, and implementing it in YOUR workplace.  The monthly meeting, held of the 4th Thursday of each month, featured a topic of How to Use Twitter.  The discussion was led by Steve Gasser of Vivid Image.  He suggested “Twitter conversation is like a cocktail party.  It should be short, concise, and to the point.”  Contrary to the longer posts on Facebook, Twitter only allows 140 characters in each post.  We also learned other “Twitter jargon” and then discussed practical ways to use Twitter to promote your business.  While Citizens Bank is not yet on Twitter, some of our employees are.  We hope to learn more about “re-tweeting“, direct messages, and #FF (follow Friday) in the next few weeks to see how we can best use Twitter.  Not yet a Twit?  Sign up!  Then, share with us your “Twitter handle” and favorite “hashtags”.

More CB in the Classroom

studentsCB Lender, Mandy Baldry, has been helping with the Junior Achievement program in Mrs. Auer’s 3rd grade classroom.  It’s a great opportunity to share a little bit about our city, banking, restaurants, newspapers, and construction with these children.  CB has partnered with Park Elementary for the last three years.   photoCheck out these smiles!
